30/08/2019

Today we created our presentation slideshow. This has things like the impact on the community, what we have learnt and the challenges we have faced. We also added what we have reassembled to the process and manual. Over the weekend we plan to fully reassemble the manual so next week we can add the photos and information to the manual and process. We also got a science board so we can get it ready for the presentation next Sunday.

28/08/2019 - Wednesday

Today we worked on the engine reassembly process and the manual. We added photos of the parts we have put on the engine. We have put on the flywheel, cylinder head, spark plug and ignition coil on Friday we are going to continue working on the manual and process. We are also going to create our presentation slideshow. We plan to finish the engine over the weekend so we can finish the manual and process and make our presentation board.

Today we updated the engine reassembly manual and the engine reassembly manual we added the parts that Luca assembled over the weekend. We also measured the RPS and RPM of the Stirling engine that we tested last week Friday. We also added photos of the grease Luca used for the gaskets. We rang Luca's Dad Mike to ask what a part was called o we could write about it in the manual and use the correct name. On Wednesday we are going to create the presentation slideshow ad continue updating the manual and process.

21/08/2019 - Wednesday

Today I worked on the engine reassembly manual and process. I photos and descriptions of what the part is to the process. I then explained how to put the part back on in the Manual. I added the sizes of the bolts and the tools required to reattach the certain part. There was a part that I did not know the name of so I will ask Luca to ask his Dad what that part is called. I will also ask Luca to send me a photo of the gasket grease he used so I can add it to the manual so people can see what the grease looks like. When I figure out what the part is called I will add it's information onto the process and manual hopefully on Friday. I added a few photos and a video of the Stirling engine that we tested on Friday. On Friday we are going to use the slow-motion video of the engine to try and work out the RPS (revolutions/rotations per second) of the Stirling engine. We will also continue to update the process and manual. We will also create our presentation slideshow. We hope to get the engine fully reassembled by Friday next week.

Today we continued working on the reassembly process and manual. We also assembled the Stirling engine. We did a few tests with it. We tested it without the light and it worked. We then tested it again and the LED light glowed different colours at different times. We also tested the volts with the voltmeter and the amps with the amp meter. We measured them both at the same time and it and the highest voltage we got was 3.9 volts and the highest amps we got was 0.1. We also videoed it in slow motion with a timer next to it and on Wednesday we are going to the RPM of the Stirling engine. Luca is also going to work on the engine over the weekend and on Wednesday and friday, we are going to document it.

14/08/2019

Today we worked on the engine reassembly process. We uploaded the photos of all the parts Luca reassembled over the weekend. We also worked on the manual. We used the feedback we got from a survey last term to help us improve the manual so we added images so people could see what the part looks like and how it fits into the engine. We also finished the kahoot we started making last week. We put the link for this on the extra information slideshow.

09/08/2019

Today we added a couple of slides to the extra information slideshow. We made one about the history of the internal combustion engine that explains who invented it and reworked it. The other one has all of the different engine types we know on it. I also created a kahoot about engines so that people can pay it and learn more about engines. It has multiple questions about engines. Over the weekend Luca is going to work on reassembling the engine and then next week we will put all the photos on the manual and process.

07/08/2019

Today we create a slide about the difference between an internal and an external combustion engine on the extra information slideshow. We looked at different examples of the internal and external engine. We also spent a bit of time looking at the Stirling engine. The piston and piston rings arrived and they fit inside the cylinder but the piston is slightly shorter than the old one so we are concerned the engine might not get enough compression. So at some point, this week or next week Luca's Dad will go to the repair shop and see if it matters. if it doesn't we will continue the reassembly.

02/08/2019 - Stirling engine

Today we researched the Stirling engine. We added a slide on extra information to explain what e found out. We also added things to the things that went wrong slide on extra information. We also found a Stirling engine experiment that involves a syringe, a test tube, marbles and a candle that shows how a Stirling engine works. We are also going to get a model of a Stirling engine at some point and then we will look at that and take photos and video it working. We finally got the parts so we can start to reassemble the engine again. Over the weekend Luca will try to work on the engine.
