31/07/2019 - Wednesday

Today we created a slide on our extra information slide about things we have learnt while we were trying to reassemble our engine. We are running out of things to do. We are still waiting for parts to arrive. It is becoming increasingly frustrating that we have to keep waiting for parts. There is not much we can do while we are waiting. We can not do the manual test we want to do and the main thing is we can not continue reassembling the engine. We can not do very much on the reassembly until it arrives. After this part arrives we should be able to do everything. On Friday if the arts have arrived we will plan what we will do over the weekend. If the parts have not arrived I am not really sure what we can do. We may start our presentation. We may also research the Stirling engine.

26/07/2019

Today we created a slideshow that has the differences between a four-stroke engine a two-stroke engine and a rotary engine. We did a slide on each of them and then a comparison. We also made a slide on the extra information slideshow about all the things have gone wrong during this project. We also added some more to the engine reassembly process. We are still waiting for the different piston rings to arrive. We are going to keep the engine at Luca's house and then we will do all the documentation at school. We can not do much until the piston rings arrive. We might enter the science and technology fair but it depends if we get the engine reassembled in time for it.

24/07/2019 What we did in the holidays

During the holidays we used a wire wheel on the bench grinder t get rid of gunk on the intake and exhaust valves we then applied valve grind paste, this got rid of imperfections and gaps that could affect performance.  We also took off the old piston rings and used the cylinder hone to grind the cylinder. But we ran into a problem. The piston rings we ordered did not fit around our piston. When we went to ynots to see what we should do they said we may have to buy a whole new piston to get the rings. We also tried to get rid of the snapped piece of the screw that was stuck.  We would not have normally bothered with this but the screw was right where the cylinder is and it might affect the compression if that bolt is not there. We have started uploading photos and explanations on the engine reassembly process.

05/07/2019 - Last Day Of Term

Today we went to the workshop and packed up the engine and all the separate parts to take it home for the holidays. We also added a slide to the extra information that explains what a cylinder hone is and what it looks like. We have done quite a bit this term. including ordering all the parts we needed. This term we also learnt a lot like we learnt about the three different piston rings. We also made a list of all the things we want to do in the holidays in the extra information slide. When we get back after the holidays we will put all the things we did over the holidays on the engine reassembly process and the manual. Today we also spent some time scraping the engine so we can replace the head gasket.

03/07/2019

Today we responded to the survey. We talked about what changes we will make to the manual. We also started writing the manual we talked about the valves and the piston. We also planned what work we will do over the holidays. We also started organising our manual test. On Friday we will put the engine and parts in a container so we can take them home. After the holidays we will do the manual test. Which is where our friend will use our old engine disassembly manual to take a part of our engine. We hope that the test will take less than one block. We will do the practical things over the holidays and then when the term starts again we will put all of the information on the slide show. We also wrote some feedback question so we can ask our friend about the manual.
