Stem B 31/05/2019 First Day

Today we updated our proposal. We also had a discussion with Miss Haag about how to improve our manual. Things like adding photos with a white background so they look similar. We also talked about reassembling some parts of the engine and then asking two people one with some engine interest and one with no experience, to disassemble some parts of the lawn mower engine using our manual. We will then ask for their feedback on if the manual was easy to understand and what we can change. Next week we will reassemble some of the parts so that the people can test the manual.

22/05/2019 Finishing Presentation

Today we finished the presentation slideshow. We printed it and we will put it in a folder so people can read through it. We also went through the engine disassembly process and made sure we had everything ready for Thursday. We will have the Manual and the presentation on paper so people can read through them. We will have the process with all the photos on our laptops and also have the engine parts slideshow on the laptops which has all the different part son an engine. At the presentation we will three the four stroke model engine, the empty engine shell and some parts like the piston, crankshaft etc.

17/05/2019 Printing manual

Today we printed the engine disassembly manual. we took a folder and then put the pieces of paper inside the folder. We will put this on the table at presentation so people can read through it. We also went to the work shop and spent some more time cleaning the four strokes model engine. We will show this at the presentation so people can understand how engines work. We also spent some more time cleaning the actual engine. We also took the intake and exhaust valves back out so that we can have an empty shell for the presentation. We will start the reassembly next term. We will show the photos of the process on our laptops.

15/05/2019 cleaning model engine

Today we finished the manual and it is ready to print. We also  worked on our presentation. WE also went to the workshop and asked Mr. Venter if we could use a four stroke model engine for our presentation and he said yes so we spent some time trying to clean it since it was quite dusty. We will use that at the presentation to show people how the four strokes work and how the piston moves up and down and the valves open and close. We will also print the manual and have that there for the presentation. We will have our presentation slideshow on our laptops as well.

8/05/2019 taking picture

Today we went to the workshop and then took all the parts out of their bags and but them on a table and took a photo of it. We made sure we had all the parts and cleaned a couple of the parts. We also started writing some things on the Presentation. We also started planning somethings we are going to do for presentation. On Friday we will  start reassembling the engine and continue working on the presentation we will also print the manual.

03/05/2019 planning presentation and cleaning engine

Today we went through the engine disassembly Manual and the engine disassembly process to make sure they were up to date and finished. We then created the engine reassembly process and the engine reassembly manual. We also created a presentation slide show that talked about things like what problems we faced and why we chose this project. We also spent a lot of time cleaning the engine. We want to make sure it is clean before we start reassembling it and before the presentation. We are going to print the manual so that people can read through it at the presentation. We are also going to start reassembling the engine. We will try to reassemble the engine so that people can see the piston move up and down. If we can not we will probably use one of the engine models.

1/05/2019 Finishing manual

Last term we finished disassembling the engine so today the first Wednesday back after the holiday we updated the manual and the process. For the presentation We are going ho print the Engine Disassembly Manual so that people can read through it and it will be part of our impact on the community. We will also show the engine disassembly process on our laptops at the presentation so that people can read through it and see what each part is and what they do. We also uploaded photos where they were missing and made sure we had everything to do with the disassembly of the engine up to date. We will start to rebuild the engine on Friday or next week.
